Koh Toa - Phuket

Feb 2nd. After the joys of Koh Toa, it is time to move on. We are travelling all day and aim to reach Phuket at about 21:00.

We get the ferry at 9.30 and the weather is really choppy and we are getting tossed from side to side but am coping just about. We have to change boats at Koh Phangan and it is nice to step on dry land. Another boat departs which stops at Koh Sammui and then we eventually reach Surat Thani at about 16:30. We get on the back of a 4x4 and get bumped along the road into town where our glamourous minibus awaits to take us the 5 hours into Phuket city. The driver is a bit of a maniac and persists with driving right up the arse of the car in front and overtaking seemingly only at brows of hills and sharp corners - he just doesn't get a rush from overtaking on a straight I guess.

We book a room in Phuket which turns out to be a complete hole so we will be leaving that the next day. It is relatively expensive for a hole as well. Its saving grace is the fact that it has a hot shower which we haven't had for over a week. We have dinner in a place where there is a live band which turns out to be Thailands worst band (the 2nd worst band were playing next door - They are a Mettalica tribure band!). The band played all sorts of terrible covers and then did a version of an Evanescence song which when the guy tried to rap just made me burst out laughing. By the time we got back to my room it felt like one of the worst days of my life.
