A bit of R+R in Calgary

Sep 1st, 2nd. I drive back to Calgary which takes about 3 1/2 hours and then I dropped off the rental car without a fuss about the massive crack in the windscreen which was cool. I get the bus from downtown to where my friends live who I will be staying with for the next couple of days. They are Cassandra and Tavis who I met on the Lake Louise hike and are friends of Simon who I went to Uni with but haven't seen for maybe 10 years. They live in a fantastic house and it is so nice to have a double bed and a room to myself. Even better, they have a cool dog called Spike who I obviously make a fuss over. The first night I am treated to slow cooked Ribs on the BBQ which are absolutely fantastic and some Canadian dark beer, then after a day of doing not too much - washing, internet stuff and hanging with Spike, I am treated to yet more delicious food and we go to one of their friends house for some wine. The only down side is having to get up at 5:30 on the 3rd to get on a plane to Toronto and I come quite close waking up the house when I forget that there are 2 steps just before the door in the dark (My excuse is that the Taxi driver was early and I was in a rush).
