Aug 31st. The hike I am doing today is a 12 mile one way hike so I am getting a hikers shuttle bus to Lake Cameron and then the hike goes all the way back to Waterton Lakes Village over Mountain passes and via lots of lakes as well. It is a bit windy today but still quite nice as the sun is out so it is nice and warm. The hike is mainly uphill through forest to begin with until I reach Summit Lake which is by a meadow and surrounded by trees. I get to the shoreline to have a look around and am delighted to see my first moose of the trip. Three females are around - 1 in the water doing a spot of underwater feeding. I close in and take a few snaps then leave them to it - unfortunately no males with coat racks on their heads are to be seen. Carrying on from here, The path goes up some scree slop to reach the 1st mountain pass and you can go up to the summit of the mountain from here so I do so. This offers a fantastic 360 panorama of the area and it is cool to see where I have come from. I get buffeted by the wind which nearly knocks me off my feet so I head back down and rest up before carrying on. It is mainly downhill from this point.
