Aug 29th. An early start as I have got an hours drive to get to the trailhead for this hike in Glacier National Park (The Many Glacier Area). The hike is about 10 miles long and winds its way through a forested area and then into a meadow with lots of wildflowers and views of the valley. The huge rock walls in the distance get ever closer and they close in 3 quarters of the Lake itself. The lake is called this because usually there are icebergs in Spring time but they had all melted. After overtaking the Ranger led group, I basically had the trail to myself which was cool and I got to the end and back before lunch time so I carried my packed
lunch for no reason. The lake at the end is stunning - the walls are so high it is impossible to take pictures with everything in. there are ice sheets on the wall as well. No real wildlife on the trail though apart from 1 bighorn sheep on the hillside that disappeared up a pretty steep slope. After lunch and a rest it was time to do a drive on the famous road in Glacier NP - The Going to the Sun Road.
