Some Hiking and Canoeing

Sep 7th. The early start isn't really greeted too enthusiastically by the group as most of us haven't slept too well as it was pretty hot last night and some insects decided to annoy me so I have a few bites. After getting to the pond, there is nothing to see except for a few mosquito's so we head back for breakfast which is homemade blueberry pancakes with maple syrup - Absolutely fantastic. We do another hike to a viewpoint above another lake - there are no wildlife on display except evidence of beaver activity (Dams, lodges and gnawed bits of wood) but it is a nice stroll anyway. The trees have just started to change colour for 'The Fall' which is cool and offers some nice contrasting colours. After this I head off with Kristina our guide to pick up the other 2 members of my trip and then we embark on another hike through the forest where there are no animals to be found - the only evidence is a few moose prints and some furry wolf poo!. The wind is picking up so after our packed lunch, we have to canoe 2km back to the lodge which is a bit interesting as there are a few waves and I am doing the best I can to steer the canoe but it is really tricky and we are a little worried about tipping the thing over as the waves broadside us, so we kneel down and I fire up the Hawaii 5-0 music as we finish off the paddle and get back to the lodge. Another new arrival awaits us and we are treated to Chicken Shish Kebobs and an awesome dessert. This trip is certainly not one to diet!
