Great Barrier Reef Day 3

Apr 8th. I am up and about at 5 and have a cup of tea before donning the gear again and jumping in for our morning dive.

Dive 1 - Gordons Mooring. Lots of Turtles having their brekky - one swims right up to me and checks me out which is quite cool then I give way and off he goes for a munch of some coral. A couple of White tip reef sharks are seen as well as a big cuttlefish. Also we swim with a massive Hump headed Maori wrasse which is bigger than I am. There are some strong currents which make navigation tricky but we find our boat OK during our safety stop.

We get back to the boat to find out that one of the new divers who has passed their open water during the boat trip has had a mishap doing a Deep adventure dive. He apparently freaked out a bit at depth, then they brought him up to 5 metres to do a safety stop (You do this every dive for 3 minutes to ensure you don't get decompression sickness) - unfortunately he has panicked again and shot up to the surface - he had a few problems with breathing intially so the other 2 dives were cancelled and we head off to home. He walks off to the ambulance to be checked out but should be OK. Whether he should of been doing a deep dive in the first place is another matter.
