Kaikoura - Whale Watching

Apr 17th. A very early start today - I phone up the whale people and check the weather - There will be some bad weather later but we should be OK to go on our 9:00am boat to see if we can find some whales and dolphins. It is a 190 km drive to get to Kaikoura from Christchurch but we wanted to do this now if we could so we don't have to come back down south from where we get the Ferry to the North Island. The drive north is pretty spectacular, There are snow capped mountains in the distance and hills along the way and some cool hairpins as well. We get to the Whale watch place 10 minutes late after a 2 1/2 hour journey.
