Jun 30th (Still). Well it is still the 30th July although I have slept (albeit poorly on the plane). Because we were flying to America Homeland Security have dictated that nobody is allowed to congragate during the flight. Stern penalties will apply (ejection?!). I am all for increased security but this seemed overkill. On another note on airline security, I was sat right by the bulkhead leading to the cockpit and I could see what the door code was that the pilots entered when they went back to the flight deck from the toilet.
I wanted to see if certain American stereotypes would hold up when I actually got to the country - it didn't take too long for certain ones to crop up, maybe it was the airline buses with 'Have a Nice Day' on front of them, or maybe it was the most middle eastern person on the plane getting 2 homeland security officials straight away asking questions (The only person who this happened too). Anyway the homeland security people did a great job (They have my fingerprints and picture now) and I didn't mind waiting for an hour to clear immigration at all. It was nice that LAX showed itself to be one of the worst airports in the world - even though I was an hour getting through immigration, no bags from the flight had made their way onto the luggage carousel. Another hilarious incident in the shuttle bus to the Hollywood hostel was some local guy talking on his mobile phone, his half of the conversation went as follows. 'Loads of hoes at this party . . . . . He was banging this girl in the toilet while his girlfriend was in another room . . . . yeah, that is totally gansta'. Had me and a couple of english girls on the bus in stitches anyway. Welcome to the USA.
