Jul 16th. I head towards Yosemite National Park and have the small task of finding myself somewhere to stay. I enter Mariposa which is about 35 miles away from the park and find a reasonably priced motel there. Staying in the park itself is massively over prices - it is a shame that the hostel was full. Anyway, I head into the park and am instantly gob smacked by the landscape and how cool it is. The valley was formed by a glacier carving it out so it has massive granite walls up the sides and lots of bizzare shaped rocks. I wander around in the valley and go and see the lower Yosemite falls (one of the largest falls in the world - although it is 3 tiered). I then get some info and decide on what hikes I will be doing over the next few days.
