Vegas Baby

After finishing the Angels Landing hike in Zion, I drive the 2 hours to Las Vegas. It is a drive through desert and then as you mount a hill then you can see all the big hotels on the strip in the distance. As I get onto the strip itself it is so busy and red lights galore. I get to where I am staying which is The Venetian hotel (I have splurged big time on this!). I am reluctant to leave the car keys with the valet initially but realise this is how it works. I check in and see the plushness of my room - quality stuff. The hotel has based itself on Venice in Italy and has the Camponile, St Marks square etc in smaller form. There is also a Grand Canal with gondola rides and shops as well. All very tacky and over the top but this is Vegas after all.
