Jul 4th. It is Independence day in the states and I am heading to the Grand Canyon. I get up early and leave flagstaff for the drive up to the Canyon. Entering the National Park and getting a first glimpse of the canyon is really cool - The different coloured rocks at different heights and sheer scale of the canyon are really impressive. There is a bit of smog hanging around so the view is a little hazy at times and the temperature is climbing. It gets to 100 degrees F at the Rim, will be hot work for the hike down into the canyon.
