Hoover Dam

Jul 12th. I get up and decide to head to Hoover dam which is 20ish miles from Vegas. The dam was constructed in the 1930s and was an amazing engineering feat in its day. There is a visitors centre there which has some cool photos of the dam and explains how it was built. Unfortunately the best photo is unobtainable because there is no view point far enough away from the dam to fit it all in. The dam also created the largest man made lake in the world - Lake Mead. It is hot as hell out here in the desert so I escape back to Vegas (it is still baking) and it is time for some lunchtime buffet action - this time at Paris - Las Vegas which has a half sized Eiffel tower outside. After this it is time for a well deserved afternoon nap.
