Zion NP - The Narrows

Jul 10th. After renting out some gear to do the hike the previous evening including wet suit style socks, canyoneers 5.10 (tm)
and a sturdy walking pole I get up at 6am (yes I know) and get an early start into Zion NP and get the bus up to the Temple of Sinewava and walk to the start of The Narrows. This is where the canyon itself really narrows down. On the bus ride I see 2 adult deer and 2 new born ones (very cute) and also a rafter of Turkeys (I looked it up). The hike itself is 5 miles up the Virgin river and for the majority of the time I will be walking in the river itself. The water is quite cool but it is going to be a scorching day so a bit of cool water is nice. Some of the rocks are really slippery but it is a lot of fun. Because I am so early there is no-one around and I pretty much have got the canyon to myself. It is quite hard going at time and at one point I am waist deep. Certain bits of my anatomy didn't appreciate this!
