The afternoons hiking action begins near to Lake Minnewanka where a hike takes you up above the treeline and is meant to give you a good chance of seeing some wildlife. I have my whistle and bear spray at the ready and head off. The short hike climbs quite steeply and I debated whether to turn back after only seeing trees for pretty much all of the hike. The views that greeted me at the top made it worthwhile though. There were cool views back into the valley and also of the mountains above. There were a couple of mountain goats a long way away traveling precariously on the rocky slopes - too far for a picture though. Heading downhill is much quicker - after I work out how much I have walked today - it is not much less than the day before - so much for resting the feet. The weather back in Banff looks like there may be a thunderstorm so my planned kayaking is not going to happen. I munch on a well deserved Smores flavour ice cream (chocolate and marshmallows) from the cool ice cream place called 'Cows'.Pictures (Left, Right) - View of the Cascade Mountain above me, (Bottom) - View back down into the valley
