Aug 4th. I sample public transport, Canadian style and it is pretty good. It is a long weekend in Canada so it is quite busy but I catch the bus over to Tsawassen where the Ferry will take me over to Swartz bay on vancouver island where I get another bus down to downtown Victoria itself. I meet some Canadian girls on the bus and they talk about how going cottaging is quite popular with people from Ontario where they are from. I have to explain why I am sniggering and what cottaging means over in England (George Michael would know). Anyway, I pick up a few tips on the area where they live as local knowledge is always useful. I check in to the hostel and have a wander around Victoria itself. It is a really nice town with lots of restaurants, cafes etc - very much a tourist destination but done well. I have found another fantastic ice cream shop called 'The Creamery'. It makes fresh ice cream every day and I had Cheesecake flavour ice cream with fresh raspberries rolled in to it. Yum.
