Aug 22nd. I get up early to hopefully maximise wildlife viewing as I am going to travel to Jasper along the Icefields Parkway - an absolutely magnificent road leading through the Rockies up to Jasper. I start off and pull in to various lookout spots along the way and the views are stunning. The weather is OK - a bit of low cloud covering a few mountain peaks but not too bad at all and the sun is threatening to come out. I stop at the Crowfoot Glacier which hovers above a glacial lake, then move on to Bow Lake which offers nice reflective properties in its blue waters and then the stunning Peyto Lake which is a brilliant turquoise colour with spectacular mountain ranges in the distance. The wildlife is lacking though as I don't see a single thing.
