Hostel on the Lake

Aug 15th. This is the fantastic sight that I was greeted with upon waking up at the hostel near Whistler. It is right on the shores of Alta Lake and has awesome views. The previous night I went canoing with a cool Canadian girl and a slightly odd French woman who I was worried was going to capsize us. We had a really nice paddle around and the lake was so placid and serene with great views of the sun setting on the mountains. Also, Mr Fuji the beaver showed up right on time - he does a lap of the lake at the same time every evening which is funny. He paddled right by the jetty but alas I didn't have my camera with me. Some of the guests who arrived later than I did were greeted by a Black bear in a tree!!! The bear was right by the steps until he got chased away by a neighbour throwing rocks. In the morning the day was glorious and there were quite a few canoeists on the lake but it was time for me to head off back to Vancouver and then to fly to Calgary for my adventures in the Rockies.
