Olympic NP

Jul 31st. I stayed the previous night in Port Angeles which is a slightly scruffy port town on the Olympic peninsula. I get up reasonably early to try and maximise wildlife spotting chances. I drive up to Hurricane Ridge and see some deer along the way but when I arrive by the car park for the visitors centre there are 3 deer there munching away. I get some cool pictures (see next post) as they don't seem very shy. There was a little one there as well. After this I have a walk around a loop track which offers views of the Olympic mountains and also Hurricane hill which I am about to climb. The park is divided up into very different landscapes, it has Low lying forests, Temperate rainforest, Coastal sections and the High Alpine part as well so it is a very diverse place (and big) - this is why it is one of the most popular parks in USA.
