Abel Tasman Kayak Trip - Day 1

May 14th. It is an early start - I am up at 6am and we have to drive to Maharau for 8:15 check in for our kayak trip. The weather looks sweet although it is a chilly 3 degrees first thing in the morning. We get our kayaks and gear and then get a water taxi up to Onetahuti Beach which is the starting point of the trip. Our trip is a 2 day trip - the first day is guided, then we stay in a boat for a night, then we are free to make our own way back to the base. After some kayak tips we are off and head straight off to Tonga Island - this area is a marine reserve and there is a seal colony on the island.
