West Coast Here we come

May 4th. It is time to say goodbye to Wanaka and all the Wanakians and head off to the West Cost. It was japanese tourist mode again for the day - lots of stopping, taking pictures and moving on to the next thing. We drive along Lake Wanaka and then next to Lake Haiwea before turning west and heading over Haast Past passing various waterfalls along the way. The weather is pretty good although there are lots of grey clouds around. When we reach Haast we turn south and go to Jackson Bay - unfortunately this was a bit of a waste of time as the clouds over the Southern Alps meant the view wasn't too hot. We go down an unsealed road for a bit to get to the cascade river but turn around as it is raining heavily and we don't want to get stuck. Bit of a wasted 100km drive in the end.
