Whanganui River Road

We branch off the main state highway and head down the scenic Whanganui River Road. We start off at the little hamlet of Pipiriki and work our way down south following the Whananui river and ending up at our final destination of Wanganui. The river road is good fun to drive with some nice gravel sections and a bit of mud thrown in too. We drive through little villages with only a few houses in them and also historic buildings - particularly in the place called Jerusalem. There is an old flour mill and church here as well. The drive takes about an hour and a half - Martin was so enthralled that he sleept for all but 5 minutes.
