Just before we reach our final destination of Westport, there is a NZ fur seal colony to visit at Tauranga Bay. The time of year is quite a good one to visit as there are quite a lot of young pups around. A lot of the Mums are relaxing on the rocks while the youngsters mess around with each other and it is cool to watch all this (they do stink of fish though but the wind is blowing in another direction). After the seals, we drive round to Cape Foulwind - Captain Cook named this as he anchored here expecting things to be calm but had to leave quickly as a storm came in. All he left was the name.
