Palmerston North

This town contains the largest university in New Zealand - We drove here from the South and enjoyed passing all the Sheep and Beef research facilities (also a Deer facility). It seems unfortunate if you are a cow on your way here as they are only interested in Beef. The hostel we stayed in seemed to have rules about rules, No opening of windows in the kitchen when raining as the carpet may get wet. All tea mugs must be placed one way round to avoid 'chipping', No beer in the rooms or fridge etc etc. Herr OberGrupenFuhrer greeted us cordially and made us feel right at home. Thank god we are here for 1 night. We did realise this place wouldn't be good but it is a stop over so we didn't mind too much. I was pretty tired after driving 450km so we have a wander around town and go and see 'Pans Labyrinth' the film (which is excellant by the way, if a little odd).
