The Road to Taupo

May 20th. The weather is not great today - very cloudy and the forecast doesn't look too hot either, not ideal seeing as we want to throw ourselves out of a light aircraft at 15,000ft and also do the Tongariro Northern circuit which is a 4 day tramp around Volcanoes in the Region (Mount Doom from LOTR). The drive over to Taupo is uneventful, no cows, woolly dudes on the road, the only incident was a stupid dog that was in the middle of the road with no owner around. The mutt moved after I slowed right down, as soon as I passed then it was back in the middle. The dog would of provided a decent meal to the local birds of prey anyway as they like fresh road kill.
