Harwoods Hole

Our second port of call is Harwoods Hole - This is the largest daylight shafts in the southern hemisphere - 200 metres deep and 15 metres wide. We walk through some pretty rugged rock strewn trees for 40 minutes to get to the shaft - There are no barriers or anything so taking decent pictures of the hole itself isn't really an option as you can't get too close to it. It is apparently an amazing place to abseil down (but only for experts). Incidentally, the forest area we walked through was Chetwood forest from Lord of the Rings.
